Abstract

Sharenting, a term derived from the combination of the English words share and parenting, refers to the practice of posting photos and personal information of children and adolescents on the internet and social media. This digital exposure may violate fundamental rights such as intimacy, privacy, and honor, while also creating a digital footprint that places them at risk of dangers such as cyberbullying and the misuse of their data, potentially negatively affecting their personal safety and, above all, their future professional life. This research has made it possible to analyze the practice of Sharenting at the Armed Forces Educational Unit Military School No. 4 “Abdón Calderón,” particularly due to the lack of information within the educational community, with special attention to parents. To achieve this, a bibliographic investigation was conducted, along with the collection of qualitative and quantitative samples. The results showed that 78% of the educational community is unaware of this practice and its implications. After conducting an exhaustive literature review, analyzing background information, and applying surveys to the educational community, it can be concluded that these findings have fulfilled the proposed objective. They reveal a lack of critical knowledge, highlighting the need to implement awareness strategies that will help protect the digital integrity and safety of cadets, especially against the risks derived from overexposure on the internet and social media, where minors’ rights are often violated.
