In recent years, we’ve seen a huge impact on how high schoolers perform in class and behave because of using social media way too much, mostly because almost everything they do daily happens on these platforms. Many young people are even showing signs of addiction, which doesn't just mess up their grades but also hits their emotional state and how they get along with others. While social media can actually be a good tool for learning and staying in touch, using it the wrong way has caused a lot of negative effects. To understand this, I looked into how digital dependency and the hours spent online relate to GPAs and how students act in the classroom. The results confirm there’s a really high level of influence from these networks, where not knowing how to set limits leads straight to losing focus, procrastinating all the time, and having negative mood swings. In conclusion, the study shows that being "hooked" on our phones doesn't just lower our grades, but it also seriously hurts our mental health and personal relationships, making it super urgent to start teaching a more responsible use of technology so we don't face bigger problems in the future.
